Below are just some of our members... but we'd love you to join us!

Myfanwy Taylor (President)
"I joined SSS nearly 2 years ago, and in that time I have gained a great
deal of confidence in speaking in front of a group; often unprepared through
table topics. Although it has been nerve wrecking at times, the friendship
and positive feedback from members within the club, is very motivating. I
found SSS a very welcoming and encouraging club. I decided to take on a
committee role last year to develop my leadership skills. I am currently
Sergent in Arms, a role which prepares the room and welcomes members and
guests at each meeting. It is a very rewarding position, and it's great to
welcome new guests to meetings, to see them become members of Toastmasters
and progress through their Competent Communication and Leadership Manuals."
Lindy Irving (Immediate Past President)
"I joined Southside Speakers about 2 years ago after giving a presentation which didn't go quite as well as planned! Not only did I find the members of Southside Speakers very supportive and encouraging, but since joining, my speaking skills have developed more than I could have imagined."

Toastmasters is more than just speaking or improving your communication skills. In 2005, while I was serving as President of Glasgow Toastmasters, I felt it was important to establish a second Toastmasters Club to encourage more speaking and leadership opportunities. Together with fellow members, we worked diligently to promote this philosophy by starting Southside Speakers . Since then it has become my favorite club simply because I feel at home and truly enjoy delivering my speeches. I will shortly become Scotland's 3rd Distinguished ToastMaster.

"I joined Southside Speakers in September 2005 as I had just been promoted and my new position involved speaking annually at an Awards event in front of 500 people. I had never spoken in public before and was terrified at the prospect. Six months later, when I did my first Awards welcome speech, I had totally lost any nervousness and really enjoyed doing the presentation. I had only intended to stay in the club a few months - but after joining I found that there were so many other things I learned, about organisation, leadership and communication in general, as well as meeting new people and simply having a lot of fun, so four years on I am still a member and I have no intention of leaving the club!"
